How do I set/reset the bottom margin of my page in the vertical margin on the
left hand side of the screen.

If you're referring to the vertical ruler, hover the mouse over the ruler at
the bottom of the page where it changes from white to blue. When you see a
double-headed arrow, drag up or down to change the bottom margin. If you
want to be able to see what the resulting setting will be, press Alt while
dragging.
