Marked as read

Hi all....

We have outlook 2000 installed as an e-mail client on a user PC and MS
Exchange installed on a server.
How can it happen that an e-mail is marked as read by itself and without
reading it...
Please note that not all e-mails are having this case but some of them.

I hope someone could give me possible explanations.

If the preview pane is open, there's a setting that says to mark the message
as read after X seconds. There's another setting to mark the message as read
when the selection changes. Either of these could cause the behavior you're
seeing. Right click on the very top of the preview pane header and choose
Preview Pane options. You can configure these options here.
