markup tools with slide show in a window PP 2007

I'm using PP 2007. If I view a slide show and mouse over the bottom left
corner I see a forward and backward button plus a pen I can use to mark on
the presentation. If I select "slide show in a window" I do not see these
tools. Is there a setting I can use to get these tools in this mode? I'm
most interested in the pen.
