Marquee problem

I have a problem with a marquee (alternate behaviour): sometimes it starts
at leftmost position and other times at right most position.
I want it to start always at left; I tried setting the scrollLeft property
but the movement overrides this new value. I also tried to stop it, change
scrollLeft, start it again but scrollLeft returns to the last position.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I was recently asked to do a "scroller" for someone. I didn't want to use
the marquee because it's an Internet Explorer only tag.

I found this:

and used it without incident. it was fairly easy to set up and didn't
require too much work to make it look exactly like I wanted.
