Mass mail with OE 6

P

Pierewiet

Working with Word 2003, Windows XP Home, OE 6 and IE 7. OE and IE are
configured to be the default client.
In 2006 I tried to sent a letter in Word merge e-mail. Every time I found
the mail in Outlook which asked to be the default client!
Now, I tried it again with the same results. Outlook asked again to
be…..etc…, answer was NO and mail was sent away! Never ever used Outlook! I
did uninstall Outlook and there was no possibility to choose e-mail! System
1 day back, Outlook icon appeared agian and I can choose e-mail! This time I
get a message such as: “cann’t work it out, install Outlookâ€.
I there a possibility to sent mass mail with OE 6 without installing Outlook?
http://tips.pjmsn.me.uk/t0002.htm
I see in Windows Messaging Subsystem a subkey called MSMapiApps and
MAPI=1; CMCDLLNAME32=mapi32.dll; CMCDLLNAME=mapi.dll; CMC=1; MAPIX=1;
MAPIXVER=1.0.0.1; OLEMessaging=1 and also InstallCmd=rundll32
setupapi,InstallHinfSection MSMAIL 132 msmail.inf

What is still missing so it will work with OE?

Note: I’am a starter.

Thanks in advance,

Pierewiet

First, try renaming the file MSMAIL32.DLL to, e.g. MSMAIL32.ZZZ

On an English-language system, this file will probably be in

C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033

if it exists on your system at all.

My apologies, I was busy with two memorial services of WW II in the past days.

A MSMAIL32.DLL does not excist on my system! Searchprogram Windows didn't
find it.

In my system: C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1043 MSMAIL32.DLL
isn't there.

I had forgotten. Have you been trying to send using HTML format? That will
definitely not work using OE, only with Outlook.

I write a letter in Word an insert this letter in OE.
HTML has something to do with webpages isn't it?

If you are mailmerging to email, you have to choose one of three formats:
a. plain text
b. HTML
c. attachment.

(a) and (c) should work with Outlook Express, but (b) will not.
HTML has something to do with webpages isn't it?

Yes, but it can also be used to make "rich" e-mails.

Tried to sent mail in plain text. Windows Installer want to install program.
missing E2561434.CAB. Could find it on CD, Installer couldn't find it! Tried
again then he couldn't find L2561432.CAB. He couldn't find either!
Emailclient isn't standard client, install Outlook as standard client!!
I think it is impossible te sent mass mail with OE.

OK, I have now been able to start with a clean system that does not contain
the full Outlook - The system consists of Win XP Pro SP2, with IE6 (not the
same as yours) and OE6. I installed Word 2003. I had to install those
Messaging Subsystem registry entries, but could then merge to email to OE
without problems (except for a security message).

So there must be a configuration issue, probably to do with MAPI.

I suggest you try the instructions in the following article (even though it
does not describe the specific problem you are experiencing):

Thanks for the advice.
There are 3 => mapi32.dll.
mapi32.dll in folder C:\WINDOWS|system32 ;
mapi32.dll in folder C:\Program Files\McAfee\MSK
and MAPI32.DLL in folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1043
and also a MSMAPI32.DLL folder C:\Program Files\Common
Files\System\MSMAPI\1043
Your Microsoft advice speaks of the first one?

Pierewiet.

I was to quick!
I had to install those Messaging Subsystem registry entries,
You mean:

Personally, I would rename all the MAPI32.dll files, run fixmapi, see which
folder a new mapi32.dll appeared in, and see if your system then works. Then
I'd probably just make a note to myself that I renamed the other ones. But
you could rename the other ones and see if your system /still/ works.

P

Renamed 5 mapi.dll in mapi.old, only mapi32.dll in folder C:\WINDOWS|system32
was fixed.
tried to sent a mail to diff. adresses with no succes.
=>!!! Windows Installer.....etc.....see 8/31/2008.

OK, I am offline again for another few days (sorry about that), then I think
we should compare file sizes and versions, and stuff in the registry.

P

Maybe that's the problem! Can it be???
I work, since 2003, illegal with Office 2003

All you can do is try the suggestion in the article.
I work, since 2003, illegal with Office 2003

I didn't understand this - can you spell out what you mean?

P

Pierewiet

Startup type was already Manual.
I get all "free"? updates for Office 2003 (and 2007) and Windows via Windows
update automaticly. No 2007 on board!
