Massive Report: Have you ever done this? Help Please

Hi,

I am compiling the results of a survey in ACC2003 as a paper appendix. I
have about 60 report objects which are about 2 to 4 pages of text each. I
have about 60 Pivot Charts and tables as separate form objects.

I want to have one report which has the charts and tables and text in it
since this would be easy to layout and the page numbering would flow right
through. Is this the correct way to do it?

I have made a start and the first few pages are fine with charts and tables.
However, Access seems to have space restrictions on the height of a report
group? When I increase the group height to fit in another chart I get the
message “The control or subform control is too large for this location.â€

What is the best practice for producing a one large printed appendix with
sequential numbering from a number of access reports?

I need to run it again next year with different data which will change the
number of pages in the text based reports.

Any help greatly appreciated.

That sounds nasty, but there's a few things to try.

First, make the subreport controls quite short, about a
quarter inch and set their CanGrow property to Yes.

You can also gain more design space by using Sorting and
Grouping (View meu) and creating a few groups on a constant
expression such as =1. Specify that you want group header
and footer sections for these groups. Then you can spread
your stuff over all these sections.

Thanks for that.

I've been reflecting on this over the weekend and I think I'm best to go the
route of chaining reports together. I found an old post from Fred which
seems to solve the sequencing of page numbers. I think I will be able to
manage the component parts more easily that way.

I will explore that further.

Thanks again for your time.
