Master document

we are preparing financial statements for our annual report and we want to
have the same heading on pages 6 through 11. we painted the pages and then
went to insert header, selected the option of "Selected pages" and typed in
the heading. however, the heading applied to pages other than 6 through 11.
any suggestions.

also i would like to have consistent font sizes, etc throughout the report.
is there anything in Word analogous to Power Point in which you can set up a
Master and everything in the document follows suit?

thanks in advance for your help

I don't understand what you're saying when you write, "we painted the pages,"
but you should be able to create different sections in your document and
customize the header for that specific section.

Word doesn't use "Masters," but the feature you're looking for is called
"Styles." Select Format, Styles and Formatting.... You can create different
styles and apply them to your text to give consistent formatting.

When you selected the pages and inserted the header, you created a separate
section (Word inserted the section breaks for you), but you didn't unlink
that section's header from the preceding and following ones. See

http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/WorkWithSections.htm.

As you've already been told, the formatting of text is controlled by styles.
