Master Project - Including only Select Tasks/Milestones from sub-p

Situation: At the enterprise level I need to create a master or consolidated
project that contains "selected" or milestone tasks only from the
sub-projects. We have a large firm that is managing a portfolio of
sub-projects, some of which have interdependencies and some do not. The
sub-projects are large projects in and of themselves and are being managed by
other complanies/agencies that do not want to provide us the visibiltiy of
all the detail tasks on their project schedules (understandably from the PMs
view). I need a way that the PMs at the sub-project level can selectively
upload their plans such that I could create the master project and manage the
interdependencies (i.e., link the tasks between the sub-projects that have
been published to the project server)? How can the PMs selectively publish
tasks/summary tasks and keep others hidden from the my view at the enterprise
level? They should be able to update their hidden tasks on their schedules
and republish to the server and I would want to be able to see the effects in
the master schedule with the links between projects?
Any timely help you could provide would be most helpful since I really need
an immediate solution to this question.

Hi,

You can't selectively hide Tasks in a schedule. Once you have permission to
see a project you get everything.

So your only real solution is for your partners and yourself to agree a
reporting schedule that only has interim deliverables and all other
reporting metrics that you need. They then need to update that weekly and
email you the result. These updates could be in Excel or a .mpp file.

Experiment with merging the updates with your schedule. Key points to test
are that your Tasks maintain their original GUIDs, Project Server
Deliverables are preserved and updates are accurate.

You can then publish and report on this reporting project.
