Master Projects in 2007

Hi-

I've been testing out the Save and Publish Master Projects capability in
2007 and have not yet seen the duplicate task assignments that occured in
2003. Just looking for some feedback from the user population on whether
anyone has seen the problem in 2007 before I throw it into production.

Master Projects are fully supported in 2007. I'm not aware of any specific
problems with master projects and dupe assignments.

Hi Beth,

as Paul said it is fully supported, to the extent that you now have the
ability to see your complete Master project ( with all Subproject Tasks) in
PWA in one screen. This was something that everyone wanted in 03. Also you
can change your Project Center view to either include only the Master
projects, which would not show the subprojects, or you can decide to show
both.

I have been working a lot with them and the only thing where I experienced
trouble is the "visual reports" in Project Professional when you open the
Master project

I have hit a couple of issues with Master projects when opening them
in in a Project Details view. If view contains a filter and the plan
has not previously been expanded then no data is returned. If you try
to group within these views on a task code grouping behaves a little
weirdly with elements apperaing in the wrong group.

Marc - is there an existing way to filter for Master Projects in Project
Center, or are you handling this via creating a Custom Field, ie, "is this a
Master Project"?

There is a system field "Project Type" which records whether projects are
Master Projects or Inserted Project etc.

Add the column "Project Type" to the Project Centre Summary view to see the
value this field returns, then add this to the filter as required.
