Master Projects in Project Server 2003

I've read in various places that having a master project (a project that contains other projects) stored and published in Server 2003 can cause erroneous reporting issues.
Can someone expand on what that means?

Steve,
as far as I can tell from you description, you publish both the individual and the masterplan.
This could result in erroneous reporting, because the reporting tool will encounter the individual plans twice (through the masterplan and through the individual plans themselves).
