You can only use five levels.

BUT: In my templates, I often delete the fourth and fifth level to stop
people using them. For me, a bullet level only makes sense, if you have at
least two bulleted lines of text in this level. Using 5 levels this would be
10 (or more) lines of text. To make them fit to the slide, you have to
decrease font size. And the slide is cluttered with information, which
makes it hard to read and to comprehend. Six to seven lines of information
per slide is enough - and for that you don't need a 6th and 7th bullet
level. If you want to publish academic work with all it's headers and
sub-headers, stick to Word. Use PowerPoint for condensed information.

Just my 2 (Euro-)Cents ...

Unfortunately I work in a lawyer's office and they do not always stick to the
rules of presentations. They create very wordy presentations and sometimes I
am short on levels.

This is a place where I would use creative linking along with a creative
interpretation of what the boss wants. Instead of putting all the
information on one slide, but the first level bullets on the first slide.
Hyperlink each bullet to a slide that has the second level bullets.
Hyperlink each of those to the next level and so on. If the sub bullets fit
on the same slide as the level above, then you don't need to nest any
further. When you get all the way to the end of the tree, set up links back
up the chain. If you want to make it even easier, set up the subs as custom
shows and link to them with "Show and Return".

One advantage to this: All the information is in the presentation and they
can show it as they want, but they can also skip the details if asked :)
