Hi,
We are having problems with Master - subproject.
Would anybody be aware of any document detailing "Best
Practices" for using Master sub-project with Microsoft
Project server 2002.

We set-up a master project and 4 sub-projects..
Now we find that the PWA shows double counting of assigned
work ...which makes the PWA useless in terms of monitoring
time-sheets and work assigned.

Ashish:

Microsoft's official stance is that Master Projects are not recommended for
use in an Enterprise Environment. If you want to create them for reporting
purposes, do so, but don't publish the assignments.

Hi Gary,
Thanks for your reply..
I must say I am surprised by Microsoft's stance.
How is program management to be done. Invariably, we will
have to find work-arounds to set-up program structure,
such that the Master project will not be published.

It's okay to go ahead and use them. They're particularly wonderful for
reporting. Be very careful not to publish assignments from a Master Plan
