Math errors after migration

We are migrating to a new project server configuration After
importing projects, I'm seeing differences in monthly totals for Work
and Actual Work in the Task Usage view. The old project server has
one set of numbers and the new server has some slight differences.
Performing the migration using XML formatted files is better than MPP.

In one case, what I see is Actual hours for a resource that appear to
be smoothed over last month and this month. While this might not
affect EVMS numbers too much, my client uses actual time records for
reconciling monthly billings and occasionally imposing penalties.

I also see a difference of eight hours for one resource's actual work
that shows up in a closed reporting period. It has been closed for
over a month.

Even with a fairly small project that only has four resources billing
time, there are mysterious differences of .03, .15, and even 2.87 in
the monthly depiction of either Work, Actual Work, or both.

I saw this once before migrating from a server that did not have SP 2A
correctly applied, but is not the situation, here.

Is there any secret to locking numbers down? ...some step I need to add
to my process to get more accurate results?
