Max # of characters ina cell?

Hi,

I have a spreadhseet with a free-form text entry box. The spreadsheet
is set up like a form, so only certain cells can be edited, the rest is
protected. The problem is the cells only seem to accept a limited
number of characters. Is there a way I can set up a cell to accept an
unlimited amount of text, and have it's height dynamically resize to
fit? Thanks

Not unlimited.

You can put about 32k characters in a cell. Only about 1000 characters will
display in the cell unless you add alt-enters every 80-100 characters (to force
a new line within the cell).

But after a while, the autofitting of rowheight fails. You can usually fit the
rowheight manually (and change the font to something smaller and widen the
columnwidth) to see* lots of characters.

* = you may not be able to read the words, but you'll be able to see that
there's something there.
