max record time - how is this determined

Is the max record time for record narrations based on the
amount of disk space on the computer you are creating the
presentation on? Does anyone know where you can find
specifications on limits and defaults for powerpoint 2002?

It would seem to derive from the available HDD space, and be based on the
expected file size for a selected sound quality.
