Max Units for Modeling Purposes Only - How change per project?

One can modify a resource's Max Units for an entire project rather than using
Assignment Units per task. However, Project states that this is for
"modeling" purposes only and will not be saved when the project is
re-opended. Max Units can only be changed in the Enterprise Resource Pool for
the resource which makes it a global change for all projects that this
resource is on. Is this correct?

How can I change resource's Max Units per project? Assignment Units still
allow for tasks to be scheduled on top of each other up to the resource's max
units per day. I only want a resource to be available for project work 60% of
the time.

My problem is that I am using a master project with inserted projects and it
is scheduling resources to their Max Unit of 8hr per day. This does not allow
for the resource's non-project time to be factored into this master when
scheduled and leveled. Therefore, the finish dates are not reflecting reality.

I found an answer that confirms that Max Units can only be changed in the ERP
and within a project for "modeling" or read-only purposes. Also, that
changing Max Units will not automatically modify existing assignments.

Therefore, my question is how to best manage the Master project with
inserted projects where the resources should only be committed to these
projects 60% of their time while their Max Units are set to 100%. They are
physically working 8hrs per day but only 60% on their day on these projects.
Project is not scheduling and leveling these to reflect this scenario because
of the Max Units. Thank you.

In the future, please post your Project Server questions in the
microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup, as this newsgroup is dedicated to
the Microsoft Project desktop application only. The only way to handle the
situation you describe is to manually set the Max. Units value every time
you open an enterprise project or the master project in question. Hope this
helps.
