maximum expression length in textbox

Hello,
My database has been designed in Access 97 and converted to
Access 2000. Some textboxes in reports have long
expressions as controlsources. The reports work fine also
in Acc2000.
However, when trying to edit the expression in Acc2000 this
is impossible because of "maximum length 2048 characters"
or "input string too long". I am sure that some are less
long than 2048, but still this occurs.
Any advise would be appreciated.

Either when trying to open the Expression builder, or when
trying to enter an edited control source, this error
message occurs.
The MS article says:
"Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem"
(written in january 2002)
I suppose no solution to the problem yet? - except a lot of
extra work for us, users....
I would say, this is one of many examples of how Microsoft
is frustrating the whole (computer) world.
Upgrades are not reliable at all.

Anyway, thanks for replying.
