We have the following departmental setup
- MS Project Server 2007 setup on a HP DL380 G5 dual processor dual core
w/4GB RAM
- SQL 2005 server, HP DL380 G5 dual processor dual core w/4GB RAM
- Database backs into the SAN for storage

Q1) What is the maximum & ideal load capacity for this setup?
Q2) Are there some guidelines on how many separate instances, projects,
users, project size that help with this determination?

Thank you,

msaidy

This is a "how long is a piece of string question". However, the servers are
fairly beefy, so I would expect with the new architecture of P2007 that this
would support 100's of users. It all depends on how many projects,
resources, users, assignments, # of changes, frequency of publishing, whether
you use issues/risks/docs and how much, # of custom fields, etc etc etc.
There are too many variables!

Make sure you baseline your servers so you can at least see the trend.

Each instance of project server creates another queue process, this is
easily viewable in task manager.

HTH for an impossible question!
