Maximum records in Excel

Can anyone tell me the maximum records(rows) and variables (columns
allowed in Excel 2003, version.
Maybe this is repeat but i tried the search and came up with nothing.

It is a repeat, and in the future you can find it in Help under
"Specifications".

Rows: 65,536
Columns: 256

Try looking in Excel Help for 'Specifications' .

What if you need more than 256 columns? Can more columns be added?

No, the row and column limits are invariable.

Perhaps, however, your application could use multiple sheets; alternatively,
you could consider changing the application's logic to transpose rows and
column.

If you are that desperate for more than 256 columns you can always use
Quattro Pro (it also has a million rows!).

Tried transposing, but lost the visual clarity and required too much
horizontal (x-axis) display for vertical (y-axis) options. Thanks!
