Maximum workday hours in PWA

J

James Longstreet

Hello,

All help appreciated.

When trying to enter time to a task in PWA, It seems the maximum amout of
time for a given day is 10 hrs
If I try to enter 11 hours I get a message saying value entered exceeds
maximum amout.

I am using Project pro and Project server 2003

Is there a way to change the maximum hours for a given workday ?

Thanks In Advance

The maximum number of hours per day per task is set by your Project Server
administrator and can only be adjusted by him/her. At least on the surface,
it sounds like your company has set that ceiling too low, as it is not
unusual for people to work 12 hours or more in a work day to "catch up" or
to "work ahead" on a task. Hope this help.s

Dale,

Can you tell me where this is set.

In Project Pro or on the Server

The option is set in Project Web Access by the Administrator. To set the
maximum number of hours per day per task, the Project Server administrator
should do the following:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions
2. Click the Admin menu
3. Click the Customize Microsoft Project Web Access link
4. Select the Tracking Settings link, if necessary
5. At the bottom of the page, set the Maximum number of hours... value to a
larger number
6. Save the settings

The decision on what number to specify in this option should not be decided
by the Project Server administrator alone. This is a decision that should
be decided by those who are responsible for the implementation of your
Project Server environment, as this decision impacts everyone who enters
time in the system. Hope this helps.

One more thing: I haven't actually checked this out but setting maximum hours per day to zero is described as allowing "unlimited" hours. I don't know if they really mean that, but for a given resource, probably shouldn't allow more than 24 hours in a day, eh?
