McAfee 8 and Project Server login

Update on issue. I called MS Support today about the login issue and I got
the following email reply from the support rep I worked with. Read below.

ISSUE:
Using a windows account, when attempting to connect to Microsoft Project
Server 2003 from Microsoft Project Professional, the Log on screen show as
blank in Project Professional and appears to hang.

RESOLUTION:
This issue is caused by McAfee Anti virus version 8.0. Microsoft Project
Professional is waiting for a response from the server that is blocked, and
appears to hang. The workaround is to cancel the connect and immediately
click connect again. At this time a session cookie has been established and
Microsoft Project recognizes this session cookie; the second connect goes
right into Project Web Access (PWA).

We are expecting a hot fix by week's end and I will keep this case open
until I send this hot fix to you. In the mean time I will continue to check
with you every couple days and keep you posted on the release.

Did you ever get the fix for this mcafee/project server problem? If so,
could you send me the link for it?

Thanks.

Dale-

I have this seen this information and I understand what that is doing. Here
is my concern: If you unregistrer the ScriptScan DLL, are you not
essentially disabling the ScriptScan feature and thus opening a possible
vulnerability on the computer? With the amount of unfriendly scripts out
there, that is a real concern.

Also, unlike most people, I'm not successful on the second login attempt. It
hangs each time.

Hi Dale

I tried the fix suggested in the link, but no luck. Project still hangs
when trying to get a connection to project server. It hangs up and make a
constant tickign noise. Maybe I should mention that I'm trying to connect to
project server 2002 with project 2003 professional. Should that be a problem?

Please let me know if you have any other solution.

Thanks.
