MDAC 2.8

No.

DAO (Data Access Objects) is a specific data access method, realistically
specific to Jet databases (i.e. MDB or MDE files), although it can
communicate with other DBMS as well.

MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components) is a collection of data access
methods that includes ADO (ActiveX Data Objects), Ole DB and ODBC (Open
Database Connectivity). Starting with MDAC 2.5, MDAC doesn't even include
drivers to work with Jet databases.
