.mdb files cannot open. Error is showing as "Unknown"

A current user was not able to open any .mdb file in access. Error message
shows "unknown". Any suggestions?

Version?

If they can't open *any* database at all, the first two things I'd
check are the SYSTEM.MDW file (probably in C:\Windows\System though it
might be elsewhere); this is the default security file and if it's
damaged you'll get an error (though I'd expect a more readable one!)
Or, check the users' permissions to make sure they have
read/write/create/delete permission on the folder(s) containing the
databases.

If this doesn't help, they may have a damaged Access installation; try
a repair installation from the OfficePro CD.

Hi John,

Version: Office 2002

Thanks- I had customer go back and verify his read/write access and
permissions for folder. If he does find that everything is fine, can we
easily restore system.mdw? What would be the fastest way to do this?

I believe it can be installed from your Office Pro CD.
