Hi all,

I have looked at the threads and may be a little dense. On my own laptop I
have Vista running Office 2003. I need to print/view MDI files. How do I do
this please? Please respond as if you are speaking to a computer novice!!

Regards,
Daniel

Do you have Microsoft Document Imaging installed? Start, Microsoft Office,
Microsoft Office tools...
If you don't insert your disk and install it. This is the only program that will
open MDI files.

Hi Mary,

Yes I have it and have now created a shortcut to run it. But is there not a
way if if i just click on the file that it will open? How do I associate?
When i browse for programs it does not show even though it clearly is in my
Office folder in Start.

Thank you!

Hi Mary,

My options are Open, Scan, Send, all sorts of things but not Change which is
what I expected. if I click Open it has two options: Go to the Web and find
the program on my PC but though I see MS MDI on my laptop under tool I am
darned if I can find it to associate it with these files in Vista.

Does the following help?

You may experience issues when you run the Microsoft Office Document Imaging
program after you install Office 2003 Service Pack 3

I run Vista and can associate the mdi files in the way mentioned before. Look in
the Control Panel in the Scanning folder. Are all the settings correct?

I do not see a Scanning folder. I have Vista Home Premium if that helps.

MDI was a printer?!?

Do you have Microsoft Document Imaging as a tool in the Office group? Are you
right-clicking the printer or a .mdi file?

Yes Mary it is installed and I can use it to open MDI files. Association is
still an issue.

Daniel
