MDI Scanning

Every time i do a scan using MDI Scanning application and an HP 8200 series
scanner, it always scans both sides of the document when scanning from the
automatic feeder.

This gets annoying, as every scan then has a blank page.

With using the automatic feeder, i can scan mutiple documents in one go, but
know i have to remove each blank page, and this takes a while if lots of
documents have been scanned.

I can use other software to do the scans, but the size of the tiffs, or
PDF's are just to big. Thats why i prefer to use the MDI software.

Can anyone help??

Thanks

Any reason you don't change the scanner default so it doesn't
automatically scan doubleside? Look at the scanner documnetation.

Hi Bob,

Theres only a couple of options with this MDI software, making it fairly
easy to use,

But either selecting the software to scan double side or not, still returns
the same result. Unfortunately i've only got one ADF scanner, so can only
test this one scanner, i normal flatbed scanner works fine, simply because it
can only scan one page anyway.

The ADF Scanner feeds in the paper, scans one side, then sucks the paper
back in, reverses the paper and scans again. My first thoughts were that
maybe the paper size was incorrect, but on checking, its always set to A4,
i've created a new preset, but this hasen't made any changes.

I can use other software such as paperport, but this is rather more
complicated and brings back tiff or PDF files that are too big in size (too
big to email off to people). But does do the job required. I want to use MDI
because it is simple to use, keeps the tiff or pdf documents very small and
can be emailed around.

That sounds like a scanner setting. You might try reading the manual that
came with your scanner.

Then perhaps there is a problem with the scanner. Please review the
documentation for the scanner.

Hi Adam,

There are some compatability issues with Automatic Document feeders and the way they interface with MS Office Document Imaging.

If you have the latest drivers for your scanner then check to see if it's using WIA or TWAIN scanner drivers. The WIA ones have
more issues it seems.

Also in MS Office Document Scanning, try creating a new preset to see if that controls things any better.

Hi Bob,

I'm using the TWAIN driver, and i've already created a new preset, but this
does not make any difference.

I think, updating the device driver (i'm assuming there will be more upto
date, and avaiable) will be my next try.

If it still doesn't work, i'll have to put it down to the HP Scanner, but HP
aren't very helpful in resolving matters like this
