How to enter the path for an MDW file on a network server? the syntax
\\ServerName\Data\Security\Security.mdw is not accepted by Access in
tools>security>workgroup administrator > Join...
If I write a shortcup C:\...\msaccess.exe "path to mdb file" /wrkgrp
\\ServerName\Data\Security\Security.mdw I get an error "can't find
\\ServerName\Data\Security\Security.mdw"
Thanks for help !

The first thing you should check is to verify that you actually have
permission to the folder on your server.

Yes, I have. But I think it is not the point, because in both cases error
messages come before the prompt for user name and PW.

Can you click on Start > Run, type in \\ServerName\Data\Security\ and get to
that folder? If you can, there still may be some kind of permissions issue.
You need to be able to create files in that folder, in order for the .ldb
file to be created.

Thanks for your help.
I have full Read, Write and Execute permission on this folder.
In windows command line, when I type \\ServerName\Data\Security\ I get the
message "\\ServerName\Data\Security\ is not an internal or external valid
command"

Sorry, I think I did not read properly what you said.
If I click on Start > Run and I type in \\ServerName\Data\Security, then I
get the message "Path not found".

The folder permissions are separate from the permissions on the
SHARE, and you have to have both set appropriately.

Then there is, obviously, some problem with your permissions to the folder on
the network. Check with your network administrator.
