ME opening a document created in Word 10.0

I have ME with the Word Processing and Data suite (
portions of excell and word) and I am trying to open
a document sent to me via EMail attachment. I cannot
do so using Wordpad, Notepad or ME Works. I noted that
the document was created in Word 10.0, probably as part
of an Office package. What do I need to do to be able
to open these documents. Put office on my computer?
Can I download a Word version and use it on my computer
to open this emailed document?

There is no downloadable version of Word. There is a downloadable Word
Viewer (free) from Microsoft. However, WordPad should open the document and
if it doesn't , it would indicate that the attachment was probably corrupt
during transmission. Ask the sender to resend it and ZIP it first.
