Memo field in form converts only text to rectangular zeros

Have a database running in XP with a form containing a memo field. Until
recently all was ok. Now the memo field in the form shows all text as
rectangule looking zeros, but numeric data is ok. In the table the form looks
ok. Loaded the batabase on 2 XP systems, and both show the same results.
Loaded to a laptop with Vista and everything is OK-no problems. Right now any
updates made to the memo field is done through the table where it can be read
correctly. Running the "repair" feature has no effect on the problem. Anyone
see this problem before?
