Memo fields make table crash?

I have just started working with Access 2007 version. I have many, many
databases in previous versions of Access and I want to start porting them
over to 2007. My problem is, every time I try to import a table that has memo
fields, the Access crashes and I cannot open the table ever again.

This happens if I import from Access 97 or 2003, Excel, or even Notepad. It
also happens if I copy/paste the data from Access, Excel or Notepad.

It will allow me to import or copy the data, then I can view the data, but
if I close the table and attempt to reopen the table, it hangs. I can only
see the first field on the first record, and Access stops responding, forcing
me to CTRL-ALT-DEL to get out of it.

Is there any reason for this behavior? And - more importantly - is there a
fix?

Do you have all the 2007 service packs installed? Last I recall there were
three. Perhaps you could open Access, view Help... About, and post the release
numbers at the top of the window.

It seems to think it's SP2. When I had it go check for updates, it didn't
find any. Here's what it gave me:
Microsoft Office Access 2007 (1.2.0.6423.1000) SP2 MSO (12.0.6425.1000)

Thanks for your help!

I can verify this bug.* Access 2007 text boxes will crash unpredictably when editing moderate amounts of text (say, 5000 characters), even if the textbox is UNBOUND (as tested under Windows XP).*

My users and I have having serious problems with this.

If anyone knows of a work-around or has a suggestion, I would be very grateful.

Thanks,
Eric
