menu bar has disappeared

My menu bar has completely disappeared. I am totally
stumped here. I did not consciuosly do this nor can I
think of any activity that could have resulted in this.
All of my toolbars are not available as well.

I have:
-made sure the workbook is maximized
-restarted my computer
-made sure no underlying macros
-tried accessing menu through keyboard shortcuts and
received a beep like it did not exist.

Any ideas?

Go to menu View-Toolbars and make sure the toolbars you need are checked.

Not the main problem and how can you do this when my menu
is missing.

fixed.

An in-house excel application was inappropriately closed
when I was rushing to leave last night. Not sure exactly
what happened, but when I opened the application and
tinkered around with some already open Excel workbooks and
was able to bring back my menu bar. Obviously something
wrong with our custom app and not Excel.
