The "tools" and "formatting" menus have disappeared from the menu band
in Word. Any idea how to retrieve them?

Word user, if I understand your problem correctly the toolbars are not
displayed any longer. You can display them again either by going to
View|Toolbars or right-clicking in the toolbars area and clicking on the
name of the toolbar you want to display. If I have misunderstood your
problem, please post a reply with more specifics.
