Merging protected documents

I have a merge form set up that pulls information from an Access database. I'd like to protect the document to make it easier to maneuver to fields and select checkboxes, but the merge function is not available when protection is turned on. Suggestions for how to handle this? Thanks.

Turn protection off; do your merge; then protect the form. That is what I
do.

Note: I merge to the screen, not to a printer or a document. This means it
works one record at a time.

I tried it; it works. And theoretically I could write a macro so others can use the form the same way. Thanks for a simple but workable solution
