"Message Handling"- advancing to next message

Just switched to MAC/Entourage from PC/Outlook- when I delete a message, the selector/viewer moves to the previous message- on Outlook, in advanced preferences, in "message handling", there is a choice regarding this "when message is deleted...." and one can choose "do nothing", "advance to next message", or "advance to previous message"- I can not find any similar preference or setting in entourage. While this may seem minor or silly, it unfortunately leads to me erroneously deleting messages I intended to save/go back to later. Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks!

Entourage > Preferences > Mail & News Preferences > Read

I only get the options Close the Message Window and Open the Next Message.

Note that Entourage is not "the Mac version" of Outlook. Many features are
the same, and many are different, but apparently Microsoft is not trying to
have total feature parity between the two.

Thank you- and I do realize they are not the same, just looking for help to get entourage to do what I want if it's possible- re: the prefs, that doesn't have an impact on what I am referring to- I meant in the main page (with or without a preview pane) when a message is selected, then deleted, the "previous" (one higher up, most recent if listed by time received) message is then automatically selected- what I want is for the next (one below it) message to be selected (and thereby viewed in the viewing panel). Thanks for trying to help!

Ok- I feel really dumb now, but apparently I have been switching the terms Previous and Next, based on what happens when I open the message and delete it (with the setting on "o[en the Next Message") it opens the one "above" it (more recently received when arranged by time)- So what I want is for it to got the "previous message" (the one below it, received earlier when arranged by time received.)

Under the Help menu, select Entourage Help.
Search for Microsoft Entourage keyboard shortcuts
Check the last four shortcuts under "Keys for reading messages". Using one
of them instead of the delete key should give you what you want.

There are some keyboard shortcuts that should help. Check out Help>Entourage
Help, and look under "Entourage keyboard shortcuts", the section on
Messages.

I use Control+Option+] to delete the current message and display the next
unread message, and Control+Option+[ to delete current and display the
previous unread message. Or, use Cmd-Option-] to delete and display the next
message, read or unread. There are a bunch of cool keyboard tricks here.
