Message left on server

Patrick

Just moved form Outlook Express to Outlook for email

I have a work email account which I access at home.
I want to leave the messages on the server so I get them again when at work.

Outlook seems to download them every time I start the program so I end up
with several copies of the same email

Outlook express was more intelligent and only downloaded them once. Is
there a setting somewhere do this in Outlook?

Thanks

This is due to a mismatch in what Outlook thinks has been downloaded and
what the server presents. I don't know what's causing it, but there's no
"setting" anywhere that controls this. It's part of the POP protocols.

What version of Outlook do you have? The setting you're looking for to
leave mail on the server is on the Advanced tab of your POP3 account
dialog.

Outlook gets it right in the vast majority of cases as well. What version
of Outlook do you have? What service packs have you applied? There were
some problems in certain situations that have been fixed.
