Message notification comes on, no message, message received 2 days

I have a user that sent an email out several days ago to a list of people,
including himself. The message was delivered, he also received it with no
problems. Since then, every 5-10 minutes he gets a notification that he just
received the message again, but there is no message when he checks his box.
He is using XP Pro and Outlook 2003. Our server is a pop3 server, not
Exchange.

Sounds like something corrupted in the message. Is his other mail flowing
normally? Can you log into the server and delete the message from the
queue?
