message rule won't send replies...

Hi,
I've created a message rule in Outlook which looks for certain words in the
subject and body and replies with a template message. When I try to test it
using another email address, it recognises that the message fulfills the rule
criteria but does not reply. The reply message just sits in the Outbox but
when I open this message I see it has not added the reply parameters to the
message i.e. the senders email address in the To box or "re. ....." in the
Subject box. I'm puzzled, can anyone help please?
