Messages go missing after being opened and read

Strange!

We have one user that opens up a message in her outlook
2002 client reads the message and then closes it. Once
it is closed it is gone! no archive, no .pst file, not
in deleted items or deleted retention area. ??? I have
done an advanced find and it does not show up anywhere!

I have tracked the message, but this is pointless because
it was in fact delivered and read by the recipient.

More info Outlook 2002
Exchange 2003 (just migrated from 5.5 in june)

Any ideas?!

Thanks
Tony

Sorry to ask obvious questions, but does she have any
rules and are there any records in her sent items folder
of them getting automatically forwarded somewhere?

Does this user have a view on the inbox such as Unread Messages? Try
changing it to All Messages and see if this fixes it.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

I Feel stupid for 2 reasons:
1)forgot to mention that no rules are applied here. but
that wasn't it.

2)Didn't look at the view menu!! Feeling stupid, I give
kudos to Milly Staples.

Have you checked her views? We had this happen and her
View was set to only view "unread" messages.
