Messages sitting in Outbox

When I compose a message and click on "Send", the message goes to the Outbox
and sits there. I have to click the MS Outlook "Send/Receive" button to
actually get the message sent. This has not been a problem in the past; it
started withn the past few weeks. My mail settings appear to be correct, so
I'm very confused. I'd appreciate any help you can give. Many thanks to all!

Are you using an internet provider for you email such as aol, msn and etc?
Or are you on a business email server?

Hi M:

I'm using an ISP (wwlnk.net). I'm not sure what is causing this problem,
but it's frustrating because I have to "send" the message twice. Thanks for
writing. I really appreciate your help.

Do you have MacAfee? If so then go to virus scan,
configure, advanced, and uncheck scan of outbound messages.

Your Update may have modified your options: In Outlook Tools~Options, look
for a checkbox that says something like "send immediately when connected" &
turn it on if it's off. In Outlook 2003 this is on the Mail Setup tab. I am
not sure where this option is in other versions. Hope this helps.
