Messages with auto preview

Hi, i have one user when his view of the Inbox is set at
Messages with auto preview, he gets just the message, when
set at Messages.. he gets the messages with a preview. The
program is OL 2002 SP1 on Windows XP Pro SP1, preview pane
is disabled. Any ideas on what may cause this.
