Steven Long

hi,
I just did a little website, and think I did the "keyword" metatag
correctly, but when i search for the site in google, it never finds the
site: below is a small piece of the tag:
Can someone help me with what is wrong here? If you wish to view the source
from the website, the address is www.pentucketcompanies.com
thank you,
Steven

Metatags have very little effect on page ranking anymore. The page's
content is king. If your page contains very little text, you will have a
hard time getting a good ranking for it.

The SE's do their own search for keywords in the content of the page, and
compare them to the words used in <title> tags, in <h1> and <h2> and <h3>,
etc., tags, in links, in comments, in alt and title attributes, and in
placement of content on the page (i.e., more important content usually
occurs first on the page).

Visit www.searchenginewatch.com for details on search engines' criteria,
submission and meta tags, etc.

BTW, it can take several weeks for a search engine to list you, if they even
do.

Tom,
have you ever had a "paid" member of that site? Do you think it's worth it
from a stand point of if the information is that much better for "paid
members".

TIA

No, Chris, I haven't.
And I won't ever pay to get information I can always freely find somewhere
on the 'net ;-)

Understood and agreed! :)
but maybe someone else who reads this thread will have an opinion of the
"paid" membership.

Did you know Google has put out a notice that it is about
4 months behind in indexing sites? Yahoo is the top
search engine now, I heard, but hotbot is very fast, and
that's what I am using now.
