microsoft access cannot find the wizard

Office 2000 premium--
All of the sudden I am getting this error message when either going to the
linked table manager, or the database splitter.

"microsoft access cannot find the wizard, or there is a syntax error in the
declarations section of a visual basic module.
the wizard you need may be missing from the libraries key of the microsoft
access section of the windows registry.
to make sure that the wizard is in the windows registry, run setup to
reinstall microsoft access, and then compile all visual basic modules in the
database"

I don't really want to reinstall the whole office package. Can't seem to
find much about this by searching google.

Nothing has changed recently on this machine.

I thought at first it was my database, but made a small simple test DB and
get the same error.

anyone ever see this before?

TIA

here is what I tried so far:

1 compact and repair
2 detect and repair
3 thru control panel did repair install
4 thru control panel did reinstall
5 banged head against wall
6 beg for help from others that are wiser than I

I am hoping #6 gets me farther....

Tried this but got same error message. Also affected by this error is the
upsizing wizard, and the add-in manager. I don't use them but tried to
access those wizards just to confirm their deaths.

Ok, I solved this on my own,
and since there is no real information on this condition that I can find out
there anywhere, I am going to be nice and share my fix with the world.
Recap:

my symptoms:
wizards don't work - upsizing, linked table manager, and database splitter
(sorry didnt try the wizards in the toolbox, just thought of it) gave a big
error message - "microsoft access cannot find the wizard, or there is a
syntax error in the
declarations section of a visual basic module.
the wizard you need may be missing from the libraries key of the microsoft
access section of the windows registry.
to make sure that the wizard is in the windows registry, run setup to
reinstall microsoft access, and then compile all visual basic modules in the
database"

The fix that worked for me:
closed access, then renamed 3 files in the X:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office\1033 folder, ACWZLIB.MDE, ACWZMAIN.MDE, and ACWZTOOL.MDE
restarted access, which then reinstalled the wizards properly, you will need
your office 2000 disk 1 for this.

This was an installation of office 2000 premium, I don't know if it works
with other versions.
Remember, your mileage may vary
