microsoft applications won't launch

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)

this is driving me crazy!

starting a week ago for no apparent reason, none of my microsoft applications will launch. i click on the application and the app icon "bounces" as if it wants to open and then just doesn't. i've tried backing into it by opening a document, excel file, or presentation and again the same thing.

my mac is completely up to date. tried running the office 2004 11.5.1 update and ran into the same problem of it not launching.

tried uninstalling it using the "remove office" utility and again the endless bouncing and then non-launch. then i drag and dropped into the trash to delete it, but couldn't get the reinstall to work properly.

finally re-installed it and again with the non-launching of applications.

any help appreciated.

ARGH!

Can you launch Entourage?? Carbon could be hosed on your Mac (some
system updates had that nasty effect in the past). Is there any other
third party applciation that refuses to launch as well (eg: Adobe CS2
applications).

Hi,
I have the same problem, also only with Microsoft Office 2008. None of them will launch at all.

Any ideas?

Well, when this happens after an update, I suspect something failed
during the process and you need to reinstall and reupdate Office, but
you didn't mention updating before you had this problem. If no other app
fails, I wonder what can have triggered this. In any case, a
reinstallation might do the trick.
