Microsoft Data Link Error

I'm trying to import data from an Access 2000 database into excel (from
excel). When I try to connect to the database, I recieve the following error:

"Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider.
Cannot start your application. The workgroup information file is missing or
opened exclusively by another user."

Anyone have any suggestions?

Open Workgroup Administrator and check the path of your workgroup information
file. It's probably missing or renamed.

Here's how. Search for wrkgadm.exe on your pc and open it. Look at the path
and file name for your workgroup. That's your workgroup information file.
Search for it on your pc. If it's not where Workgroup Administrator thinks
it is, use Workgroup Administrator to join the workgroup wherever that file
really is (use the "Join" button at the bottom middle of the Workgroup
Administrator window).

If you can't find the file listed as your current workgroup, look for system.
mdw and join that.
