"Microsoft Database Daemon has encounted a problem..."

When starting Entourage I get "Microsoft Database Deaemon has
encountered a problem and needs to close." Once I click out of that,
Entourage tells me "Entourage cannot access your data. To attempt to
fix the problem, rebuild your data base."

Rebuilding the database doesn't change anything. I also went back and
tried opening the database as stored on my nightly backup, and got the
same problem. My database is 2.1 GB.

Suggestions?

One additional piece of information-- Running "Verify Database" reports
that my database is functioning correctly.

Update: Tried moving Entourage preferences and
com.microsoft.entourage.plist to desktop and starting Entourage. Same
symptons.

Well, I probably should have tried this earlier, but, restarting the
computer seems to have fixed the problem.

Try deleting this preference:

com.microsoft.DatabaseDaemon.plist

Also check your Startup items folder for multiple Microsoft Database
daemons. If there is more than one, delete all and let Entourage recreate a
new one.
