microsoft document imaging shutdown

Robert J.

When I scan a document using "Microsoft Office Document Scanning" it works
fine at first, i.e. completes the scan, does OCR and opens the file in
"Microsoft Office Document Imaging". I can see the document and all fine. The
I move the cursor and click on "file" as I want to save the document and
immediately I do that I get the following message:

"Microsoft Document Imaging has stopped working.

A problem caused the program to stop working. Windows will close the program
and notify you if a solution is available."

And all you can do then is click close. Its sooo frustrating. I uninstalled
Microsoft Office and then reinstalled. I also did the same thing for all my
printer/scanner software and I still get the same problem. I've done this
twice and no luck so far. Can anyone help?!?!

I don't know if this will work for you, but here goes. I had the same problem
and it was very problematic for a while. In my situation it only abended when
I tried to go to the file menu. I just started using the little diskette icon
to save my scans for a few hours and then whatever the problem was
(MSVCR80.DLL maybe?) just went away. The file menu options and everything
works fine again (for now). I have been using the document imaging for a
while now to scan everything and I just put SP1 on for Vista, but I dont know
if that was the issue or not. Anyway I have no idea how or why this worked,
but use it if you can.
