I recently purchased 3 new HP Compaq dc7600 Convertible Minitowers with XP
Professional installed by the manufacturer. I installed Office XP
Professional and a search program called IsSearch. The problem I'm having is
that Windows Indexing Service is not indexing tif files as it should be, with
the Microsoft Document Imaging tool installed, and does with older computers
I have (by older I mean computers purchased as late as May 2006).

Does anyone know if Microsoft slipstreamed a degradation into the XP
operating system, taking away this powerful tool? Or, if there is some
setting that I need to change on these new computers to allow tifs to be
indexed by the indexing service?

Thanks!

FRUSTRATED TO THE BITTER END!!!

you may just need to check the settings on the computers first. have you done
any updates to your computers yet? sometimes there are maybe one or two
updates that will fix the issue.

also check the settings on the program itself. make sure that it will that
file extension as well as any other file extension that you want it to see.

Hope that was helpful.
