Microsoft document imaging?

Linn Kubler

Hi,

We are using Office 2003 and when I install it, it installs a Microsoft
Office Document Imaging printer. It's function seems to be to create a file
of my print jobs sort of like Adobe Acrobat, but with less features. This
has proved useful on occasion. One problem we are having is that when we
send these documents to someone outside our organization as an email
attachment they can't read it.

I'm guessing that this is because they don't have Office 2003. Is there
some kind of document viewer that we can get and have them install so that
they can read our files? I was checking the MS download site but didn't see
anything helpful, any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Linn

Microsoft does not offer a downloadable .mdi viewer. But there are
third-party applications that claim to be able to open .mdi files. Ask
Google.

There are mdi viewers
available. And mdi is
really great if all parties
are using Office.

However, in my opinion
it would be best to stay within
the industry standards and use
Acrobat.

I would suggest that instead of getting
someone on the outside to install
a third party mdi viewer, that you use
pdf format for transmitting electonic
documents.

You can use a freeware called primo pdf
that will install a pdf print driver. As for
the pdf viewer, it is "highly" likely that everyone
has an Acrobat or a FoxIt pdf viewer...
