Microsoft Office (2000) refuses close (after a long delay) and ha.

I recently changed from Outlook Express to Microasoft Outlook (MO) Office
2000. When I open MO it opens and receives mail but I try to open or touch
any point on the display the hour glass starts and the proram just hangs. It
will not close until after several atempts. When the program is open the
computer is very dumb (slow). I removed Office 2000 and reinstalled it but
the proram (MO) acts the same. Any one got any ideas. P.S. I made it my
default program when prompted.

I have two suggestions. I've played with Express and have only gotten
wrapped up in my shorts trying to get it to work. I'm suspecting that
Outlook and Express are having issues. If you want to use Outlook, use
whatever technique you prefer to get Express off of your machine. Second and
once Express is gone, recheck our Outlook preferences (options, etc) and make
sure that you are, at least, set to default values. I'm thinking that
Outlook might be trying to do some magic that is bogging down your machine.

I will try that. Thanks On the same issue, do you think that because Office
2000 is looking for Internet Exp. 5.0 and I am running 6.0+ could further
agrivate the problem? During installation I get a message "Unable to access
configuration for Microsoft Personal Web Server". I have no idea as the ISP
is up and running and MO does receive messages? Strange stuff that.
