Microsoft Office 2003 re osa.exe?

J

JDoe

I've been reading this thread ("MICROSOFT OFFICE 2003 IN STARTUP" dated
8/14/07). I looked for osa.exe in my MS Office Small
Business 2003 and cannot find it after a "search" on my C drive. Where do
I acquire osa.exe to place a shortcut in my "C:\Documents and
Settings\<username>\Start Menu\Programs\Startup" to facilitate a quicker
loading/opening of MS Office documents?

Thanks for your anticipated response.

Yes, I've looked in that folder. And, as well, I've done a "search" on C
drive. Nothing.

Yes, I looked in that folder, as well as I did a "search" in Windows
Explorer for "osa.exe" and both came up w/ nothing. BTW, it's WinXP Home.

hi J.,

In Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel pull up the Office 2003 choice and in the Advanced settings check to see that
the Open & New Office Documents is enabled under 'Office Shared Features'.

Why would going to Add/Remove > advanced setting to ascertain if "office
shared features" is enabled as to finding osa.exe on my computer which was
my query?

You've left me pondering (as well as w/ trepidations about WinXP's
"Add/Remove" ability to tank my much used Office program). I'd rather have
a "why is this relevant" answered b4 blindly venturing into areas that could
do more harm than good. Again, the query is about Office's ability to
upload quickly and to find osa.exe on my harddrive in order to place osa.
exe in my "C\Documents and Settings\<username>\Start Menu\Programs\Startup".

Thanks for your response.

JDoe,

May I suggest that you try Detect & Repair function in Office 2003 to
restore all missing files. You can do this by pointing your mouse to
Help, Detect & Repair. you will need to launch an Office application to
reach help menu item.

If you haven't cached your installation files (MSOCache) then you will
need your original CDs to complete this. Otherwise, the process will be
automatic and should be completed in about 5 minutes.

Hope this helps.
