Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac 11.5.0 Update

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

I installed Open XML file format converter for Mac 1.0.2 and am trying to install Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac 11.5.0 Update, but I keep getting an error message that says "the installer could not locate the correct version of the software required to install this update. See the Read Me file ... to determine if your software meets the requirements for this update."

The Read Me says "If the Open XML File Format Converter for Mac is installed, this update enables Office 2004 for Mac to read and write Office documents that are in the Open XML Format."

In other words, as far as I can tell I've installed the appropriate software. What do I do now? Thank you for your help.

Get the 11.5.5 updater. It's a combo updater and will update any version of
Office for Mac 2004. Previous updaters required certain updates be installed
before you could run them.

I am having a similar problem. I am getting the same error as tracy. I tried MS office 2004 11.5.3 and 11.5.5 and I cannot update either on my Mac. I am using OS X 10.4.11

If you log in using a new User, see if you can update from the new User.

Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Make it an admin
account. Switch to the New User by logging out/in or use Fast User
Switching.

Download and run the updater from the new User. Does this work?

If that doesn't work, I finally fixed my problem simply by restarting my computer. It's worked fine ever since.
